Whitney Houston Will Tour Beijing

The US pop diva and six-time Grammy Award-winner Whitney Houston is scheduled to perform at the Olympic Sport Centre Stadium in Beijing on July 25, 2004. Houston is also scheduled to perform in Shanghai on July 22 and Hong Kong on July 28, according to the Poly Cultural and Arts Company, organizer of Houston's China tour.

Houston's Beijing performance is expected to be a highlight for this year's entertainment industry in Beijing, although the band Suede and singer Sarah Brightman performed in February and May.

Beijing is rebounding from cancellations by the Rolling Stones and Mariah Carey last year. In addition to Houston reports indicate the American pop band the Backstreet Boys will replace Britney Spears in concert in September, pending the approval of the Chinese Culture Ministry.
