Michael Jordan Lands in Beijing

Basketball star Michael Jordan arrived in Beijing on May 17. It was his first visit to China, and his many local fans have been extremely enthusiastic throughout his tour.

Jordan attended several evens in the capital, including a visit the Dongdan Sports Centre, participated in a media conference, visited the Jordan s Sports Career fan exhibition and presented an award to the champion of the second Nike China High School Men s Basketball League. On May 19 he also met Yuan Weimin, director general of Chinas State Physical Cultural Administration.

Huge crowds of enthusiastic Beijing fans waited hours at the airport, near his hotel, and at other spots where Jordan was scheduled to appear, expecting to see their idol.

Jordan played 1,072 NBA games for the Chicago Bulls and the Washington Wizards and finished his career with 32,292 points, 5,633 assists and 6,672 rebounds. His acrobatic moves and uncanny shot-making during his prime with the Bulls, as well as captaining them to six NBA titles, established him as one of the greatest players in the sport s history.
