China's First Communications Fund Launched

The Serge Dumont-Tsinghua Communications Scholarship, the first of its kind in China, was launched in late April at Tsinghua University.

It is supported by a fund set up by Serge Dumont, Chairman of Springford Investments Ltd, and the China Youth Development Foundation (CYDF). It is designed to train students to meet the ever-growing communications and public relations need resulting from China s WTO entry and globalization issues.

Dumont is a board-level advisor and non-executive director to major multinational corporations in Asia. In 2003, he served as senior advisor to the World Health Organization and Chief Advisor to the Media Center operated by the Beijing Municipal Governments Joint Working Team on SARS Prevention and Treatment, providing crisis management counsel to the authorities at the highest level during the outbreak of SARS.
