German Auctioneer Exhibits Chinese Art in Beijing
2004/05/01
German-based Nagel Auktionen exhibited 50 pieces of selected
Chinese art in Beijing from April 16 to 18.
According to the company, it was the first time for a German
company to auction items in China, and the local auction will
be followed an Asian Art Auction in Stuttgart.
"Chinese auctioneers have become more competitive on the
international auction market in recent years", said Nagel owner
Robin Ph. Straub. He continued, "A quarter of catalogue items
auctioned by the Asian Art Department last year were purchased
by Chinese auction houses. China will be one of the potential
great markets in the coming future."
Founded in Germany in 1922, the Nagel Auktionen is one of
the oldest and biggest auctioneers for fine arts and antiques.
It will put 2,000 pieces of fine Asian art in its catalogue for
this year's May auction.
