Peer Gynt

2004/05/01

The Norwegian Ibsen Theatre Company and Grenland Friteater, along with Chinese artists, will perform Henrik Ibsen's poetic drama Peer Gynt at Tianqiao Theatre April 30th to May 3rd, as part of the Beijing International Drama Festival.

This production of Peer Gynt, directed by Lars Vik, was a huge success in Norway last year, and the organizers confident that this performance will enchant the Chinese audience likewise. The Peer Gynt production in Beijing will be a large-scale happening with over 70 people on stage, including actors, acrobats, musicians and dancers. The dialogue is in Norwegian, but Chinese subtitles will be provided throughout the play. Original music by Norwegian composer Guttorm Guttormsen will be performed by a 17-piece Chinese brass band.
