Letter from the Editor April 2004

2004/04/01

Spring in Beijing offers a wealth of delightful choices for lovers of arts and culture.

Our April issue reflects this with a preview of two fabulous arts festivals, an in-depth look at one of the capitals true cultural treasures and some tempting recommendations for spring travel.

For many, the arrival of Andrew Lloyd Webber's record-breaking, world-acclaimed production of the musical Cats promises to be the highlight of the season.

The spectacular show, being staged at the breathtaking Great Hall of the People, raises the curtain on both the Meet in Beijing Festival and the second Beijing International Drama Festival.

Look out too for our in-depth focus on the Ming Tombs, an outstanding World Cultural Heritage that could yield yet more secrets over the course of an ambitious renovation scheme leading up to Beijing's 2008 Olympic Games.

In the spirit of the season, readers who spot our April issue Fool s Day prank have a chance to win a 600-yuan dinner voucher for the Crown Plaza Beijing.

And we introduce BTM's two new editors Daragh Moller and Shannon Roy to our dear readers.
