Did You Know? "Cats" Fast Facts

On May 11, 1981, Cats made its debut at New London Theatre and ran for a staggering 21 years, becoming the longest-running drama ever performed there.

On October 7, 1982, Cats took to the Broadway stage, beginning a run that lasted until September 2000. That made it the longest-running musical in American history.

Cats took seven Tony Awards including Best Musical Drama in 1983.

A mind-boggling 65 million people around the world have watched Cats performed in 14 different languages and over 40 versions since 1981.

There are two acts and 21 songs in Cats, including the world-famous Memory. Over 30 cats appear in each act.
