Letter from the Editor, March 2004

2004/03/01

With the approach of spring, I feel truly revitalized. It is most gratifying to receive more and more feedback from our readers everyday. Thanks to everybody for your support in the Year of the Monkey.

In this issue, we have fully utilized our potential to present an in-depth cultural report. Indeed I hope that we didnt go into too much detail! Once again, the feedback of you, our valued readers, will be most welcome. We intend to follow up with consecutive reports on this topic - but again we shall be guided by the wishes of our readers!

Another highlight of this issue is the Health column. It reminded me of last year's misery, but I believe that the same scenario will not be replayed this year. To welcome International Women's Day, we have also prepared one piece especially for our female readers. The interview with CCTV 9's cute host Zoe Allsebrook also started out from a feminine perspective. However let us take care of ourselves, the ones we love and who love us.

I do not know whether readers have observed that we are adjusting our writing and design style every month. We have invited more freelancers, both domestic and foreign to contribute and have managed to provide better photos and more creative designing.

From this issue, I will tell the readers more about our editing plans for next month. I hope then our readers will pay more attention to topics which most interest them. In our April issue, we will present an  'Art Special', with feature stories including the Meet in Beijing Arts Festival, the Australian Film Festival, an interview with artists and our unique report on heritage maintenance ahead of the 2008 Olympic Games. If you are an art fan, please look out for BTM's next issue!

I hope your mood is as bright as the spring.

Zhang Ming
