Capital's Youngsters Enjoy Best Opportunities

2003/03/01

Young people living in the national capital are the luckiest in China in that they enjoy the best opportunities in schooling, according to the city's statistical bureau. In its 2002 annual report, the bureau says about 70 percent of local students who sat last year's national college entrance examination were admitted to colleges and universities.

Among local people aged 18-22, 46 percent were admitted to institutions of higher learning, the report says. Meanwhile, 4.5 million local residents attended part-time training programs in various subjects last year.
