All Chinese Universities to Admit Overseas Students
2002/12/01
All institutes of higher education in China are open to
enrolment by students from overseas, according to Beijing Youth
Daily. Sources at the Chinese Ministry of Education said more
than 400 colleges and universities had enrolled overseas
students by the middle of this year, adding that their number
has been increasing by 5,000 each year. The largest groups of
students come from the Republic of Korea, Japan, the United
States, Indonesia and Germany. The majority of past overseas
students came to learn Chinese, traditional Chinese medicine
(TCM) and Chinese opera, said education officials. Now they can
choose any area of study, so more and more are opting to major
in other subjects.
