Community Libraries Win Approval From Elderly, Mothers
2002/12/01
Retired people and young mothers are among the biggest users
of Beijing's first wave of community libraries, figures show.
"The library is near to my home, so it is really convenient for
me to read there. Neighbors also bring their own books there
and exchange them. It's a great place for retired people, said
one elderly user.
Young parents, teenagers and other community residents are
also spending more time reading at these libraries, which
welcome donations in order to improve their ranges of books and
services. Most community libraries stock about 8,000
titles.
