Top US Fruit-juice Debuts in Chinese Capital
2002/12/01
There's a hot new name on Beijing's fruit-juice
scene-Smoothies-which its American makers promote as "The Good
Taste of Good Health" The iced and blended beverage is packed
with the juices of berries, bananas and assorted exotic fruits,
gaining the drink a reputation as everything from a meal in
itself to a refreshing pick-me-up or dessert. Figures show it
to be the fastest-growing drink concept in the US. In Beijing,
it can be obtained at the Eagle Run Plaza (1/F.,) in Xiaoyun
Lu, Chaoyang District.
The original Smoothie was the popular Orange Julius of the
1960s. Its re-emergence under the Smoothie name has struck a
chord with health-conscious Americans because the fruit used in
production is organically grown and has added nutrients.
Smoothies are now sold in most juice bars in the US. Now its
makers envision Smoothie outlets on the world's street corners
and a Smoothie blender in every kitchen.
