Foreign Traders Given Wider Access to Technology Market
2002/12/01
A series of new regulations is being implemented to further
widen Beijing's technology market to all trading entities,
including foreign.
The new rules cover all activities conducted in the city's
technology market, including development, transfer,
consultations and services.
Foreign research institutions have been a major factor in
the surge in Beijing's technology trade. In 2001, trade
contracted by foreign technological research institutions was
worth 2.659 billion yuan, accounting for 13.92 percent of the
city's total contracted trade.
The Beijing market mainly deals in electronic technologies,
bioengineering, new medicines, new materials and other advanced
areas. Currently, the technology market has more than 3,900
sellers and 150 trade agencies.
