International Media Center Projected for Xuanwumen

Work will start in central Beijing this year on a China
international media center, designed to house various media
organizations. With a total floor space of 130,000sq.m, it will
house the 100-plus foreign media organizations in the capital,
reported Beijing Morning Post. To be completed within 32
months, it will be equipped with state-of-the-art satellite
communication and fiber optical technology to ensure fast
transmission of data, texts and pictures.
The building will be erected in Xuanwumen Dajie, south of
the bustling commercial area of Xidan, and facing Xinhua News
Agency, said sources from the Beijing Junhua Real Estate
Company, a prime contractor for the project which is also
planning the second phase of construction, including 300,000
square meters of apartments for journalists.
