International Education Exchange Event Slated for Capital

The 2002 International Education Cooperation Week (IECW),
the largest international education cooperation and exchange
event hosted in China since its entry to the World Trade
Organization (WTO), will take place in Beijing from September
24-30.
It will include a Sino-US Education Cooperation Forum on
September 25, followed by an International Education Exposition
on 28. During the forum, a three-day event, Chinese and foreign
officials and experts will discuss topics including strategies
for China's higher education following its entry to the WTO;
the management and development of universities; and
remote-education and joint-venture schools the latter focusing
on the development of private higher education, international
cooperative education, the adjustment of China's educational
policies and laws and other social issues.
The exposition will invite world renowned educational
institutions such as Harvard University, the US Educational
Foundation, the US Educational Testing Service, and the British
and Australian embassies in China to give eight lectures on
scholarship and university application; options for management
training; TOEFL and its future development; and other topical
issues.
