This newish restaurant at the Great Dragon Hotel has rapidly built up a regular clientele, in part at least due to a promotional phrase that goes: "There are 100 Indians, 99 of them dancers but only one of whom is chef." Make of it what you will, the important thing being that the menu and quality here are beyond the norm, and people keep coming back for more.

The largely curry-based dishes include Murg Zafrani Chicken (boneless chicken cooked in almond and saffron gravy garnished with eggs); Khazana Tandoori (assorted barbequed items served on a platter); Tandoor Kanazrana (a delicious Indian bread selection); and Gulab Jamun (deep-fried knoll of milk pastry soaked in sugar syrup and served warm).

The restaurant's design celebrates the ancient caravan routes from China through India to Central Asia, across which traveled everything from cuisines to religion, goods to scholars. The interior's floor area is inspired by a map of such routes. Four pavilions in classical architectural styles reflect the route's different cultures, culminating in Central Asia, from where Tandoori food originated.

A "timeless wheel" greets one at the restaurant's entrance, while the ceiling is inscribed with calligraphic quotations from the works of Fa Hien and Hieun Tsang. In another novel design approach, walls and windows "enlarge the reality" of the restaurant through multiple reflections.

The meal experience is heightened by a gracious Indian dancer, performing an ensemble of classical dances every evening.
