Suburban Beijing Sites Favored by Holidaymakers

The arrival of summer has seen uptown tours of Beijing prevailing over other tourist destinations, in part due to floods in northern China. Travel agencies are reporting literally hundreds of bookings for, and inquiries about, suburban tours in preference to well-trodden routes further north.

Agencies say that floods in the likes of Hunan, Zhejiang and Anhui have caused Beijing citizens to change their holiday travel plans in favor of places closer to the capital. As a result, resorts in and around Beijing have been forced to further develop their facilities to meet the sudden demand.
