2002/08/01
The People's Daily has recorded that an Egyptian cultural
week called "Waves of the Nile" opened on July 21 in the
Egyptian section of Beijing's World Park. During the week,
visitors were introduced to Egypt's history and culture through
words and pictures. The history of Chinese-Egyptian cultural
exchanges was also featured. At the opening ceremony, Aly
Houssam El-Din El-Hefny, the Egyptian Ambassador to China, said
the event reflected the great progress Egypt and China had made
in cultural exchanges. He also noted that Egypt was now among
destinations for Chinese tourists.
