Kiddies Learn About Flying from Boeing China
2002/06/01
Captain Frank Hankins of Boeing China Inc., has talked to
kindergarten classes at the International School of Beijing
(ISB) as part of their lessons in the workings of
transportation. The captain explained how aircraft fly by the
use of models and other teaching aids, and answered many
questions from the kiddies, who were also shown a poster
illustrating the layout of a plane's cockpit.
Meanwhile, in support of the capital's city-wide effort to
make Beijing greener and cleaner, the entire staff of Boeing's
Beijing office, their spouses and friends spent May 10 planting
tree saplings at Chaoyang Park. They were joined by four
colleagues from Boeing facilities in Seattle and Wichita in the
US.
In another local anti-pollution campaign, Beijing Municipal
Government is encouraging every person in the city to plant 10
trees in their lifetime.
What Boeing describes as "good corporate citizenship" is a
key element of the company's activities in China, and for which
its contribution towards educating China's visually impaired
children was recently recognized. The giant aircraft
manufacturer was among several organizations honored in a
ceremony at the Great Hall of the People.
