Chinese Officials to Study at Harvard

2002/03/01

A new five-year agreement will soon see the first batch of probably 300 Chinese officials over the next five years off to study at Harvard's Kennedy School of Government (KSG). Their training is under a deal between China State Council's Development Research Center (DRC), Tsinghua University and Kennedy, according to Beijing Youth Daily.

The agreement, which runs until 2007, will each year see 60 Chinese local and central officials studying updated theories and working methods in public administration, subjects for which Kennedy is famous. This is the first time KSG has run such a large-scale training class for a foreign country, and the first cooperative venture in the training of officials between the State body and the two famous universities.
