Cool's the World For This Ice Rink

2002/01/01

highly popular attraction at China World Shopping Mall, Le Cool Ice-skating Rink has a total ice surface of 800sq.m and is equipped with environmentally friendly CIMCO facilities from Canada. An additional 650sq.m is given over to changing rooms, distribution of skates and appropriate clothing, and a snack bar.

The rink's popular skating classes and programs are in accordance with those developed by the Ice Skating Institute of America (ISI). Classes are geared to different groups age and level of skating ability. One, for example, comprises five lessons which are completed over 20 days, with each session allowing for 75 minutes practice and 45 minutes more intensive instruction.

Tuition costs 350 yuan for workday classes, and 450 yuan at weekends. The rink is also the Saturday-mornings venue for lessons in ice-hockey, an increasingly popular sport among young Chinese and foreigners. The charge for 10 lessons is 700 yuan.
