Ban on Anti-flu PPA Medicines

2001/01/01

The State Administration of Medicine (SAM) has issued an emergency statement prohibiting flu-treatment medicines that contain PPA, reports the Beijing Morning Post. Statistics collected by the Medicine Side-Effects Center show that patients who took medicines with PPA often suffered serious side effects. The Kangtaike brand and its serial products top SAM's prohibited list, followed by Kangde, Meishafen, Ganmaoling, and Sikefu and its product series separately. PPA has also been banned in other countries, first by the United States. The good news is that people who stop taking medicines containing PPA quickly cease to suffer the side effects.
