Three New China Hotels For Shangri-La Group
2001/01/01
Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts has signed management
agreements for three new hotels in China Nanjing
(opening early this year); Zhongshan (opening late this year);
and Zhengzhou (opening in 2002).
The three properties will further strengthen the group's
dominant position in China, where it already has 15 hotels with
a total of 7,000 rooms.
The new hotels are part of Shangri-La's plan to double its
current total of 37 properties in Asia by 2005.
A spokesman said: "We see huge potential in China, which is
benefiting both from major growth in domestic travel and the
increase in numbers of business and leisure travelers. We are
well placed to capture much of this new business in secondary
cities, which will grow even further with China's entry into
the World Trade Organization.
