Rotary Charity Ball
2005/03/22
The Rotary Club of Beijing (Provisional) will hold its
Seventh Annual Charity Ball at the Kempinski Hotel beginning at
7 p.m. April 23.
The black-tie charity extravaganza is held to raise funds to
support Beijing Rotary Club charities including:
- Children and families affected by HIV/AIDS in Henan and
Shanxi provinces;
- The Beijing Children's Village home for children of
imprisoned parents;
- The Fortune and Minkang schools that serve the needs of
mentally handicapped children;
- The Stars and Rain Institute for children with
autism;
- The Gift of Life programme that provides live-saving heart
surgeries to needy children.
Organizers emphasized that 100 percent of the money raised
by the charity ball--more than 2 million yuan in recent
years-gets to the children in need. The club itself operates
off dues paid by members.
Rotary is a non-religious, non-governmental and
non-political network of business, diplomatic and professional
leaders who work together to provide services to people in
need.
