成立于1993年的北京对外文化交流中心和北京月讯杂志社（以下简称中心）是一个以宣传和推广北京为己任的文化交流机构。作为北京市人民政府外宣品制作基地，中心与北京市人民政府新闻办公室、北京市发展和改革委员会、北京市旅游局、北京市商务局、北京市贸促会等部门密切合作，编辑出版《北京月讯》、《北京月讯商务特刊》、《北京指南》等固定出版物共7种，每年出刊近200万册。北京的名胜古迹、北京的悠久文化、北京的风土人情以及北京的投资政策、北京的大型国际商务活动等，都通过这些精心制作的外宣品和北京外宣品网站（www.btmbeijing.com）展现在读者面前，增加了来京旅游、商务、常驻的外国人士以及从未来过中国的海外人士了解北京的途径，为他们提供了最新的旅游信息和投资政策，也为加强中外交流提供了便捷而畅通的渠道。
10余年的运作，使中心拥有了一支由外宣、外语、艺术设计和销售、发行人员组成的年轻而富有活力的专业队伍，在外宣品选题策划、编辑出版、设计制作、资金运作上积累了丰富的经验，形成了自己的运作模式和风格。借助自身的优势，中心除制作出版固定出版物外，还积极与北京市各区县和委办局合作，向他们提供政府公关、外宣品制作等服务。特别是与奥组委的紧密联系，使中心有机会置身奥运，并通过承做各类奥运宣传品，将北京展示在世人面前，提升北京国际化大都市的形象。
在发展平面宣传的基础上，中心还通过承办各类北京市人民政府主办的大型活动以及在世界各国举办的外宣展览来推广北京，北京的形象已融汇在中心所有的工作项目中。

Established in 1993, the Beijing Foreign Cultural Exchanges Center (BCEC) and Beijing This Month Publications (BTMP) serve as professional institutions promoting Beijing throughout the world. Working in close collaboration with the Information Office of the Beijing Municipal Government, the Development and Planning Committee of the People’s Government of Beijing Municipality, the Beijing Municipal Tourism Administration, the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Commerce, the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Beijing Sub-Council and other institutions, BCEC and BTMP publish seven publications including: Beijing This Month, Business Beijing, the Beijing Official Guide, and Map of Beijing. These publications in coordination with the www.btmbeijing.com Web site, present Beijing’s history, culture and customs, tourist information and investment policies and opportunities. During their 12 years of operations, BCEC and BTMP have established a solid reputation based on the work of an energetic, skilled team of professionals specializing in English- and Chinese-language editing and publishing, graphic layout and design, advertising and sales promotions, setting up exhibitions, displays and promotions. In addition to publishing regular publications, BCEC and BTMP also produce special publications and provide special promotional services to Beijing’s bureaus, districts and other clients. BCEC and BTMP works closely with the Information Office of the Beijing Municipal Government and the Beijing Organizing Committee for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad (BOCOG) to promote the highest-quality image of the Beijing Olympic Games.
